Energy Firms To Cut Bills After Govt Pledge

In response to a Government pledge to remove some taxes and social charges from bills, energy firms will pass the savings on to the customer and keep prices low until the next election.

Ed Davey (Energy Secretary) said that the changes to electricity and gas bills would save the average household £50 each year.

Npower, British Gas, SSE, Scottish Power and Eon will cut their bills to reflect the saving, while EDF said that they had already anticipated the government changes and would therefore not need to lower bills.
